In what could easily be one of the biggest anime announcements of the year, mangaka Hirohiko Araki has announced a new season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The next segment of the storied saga is titled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo (Golden Wind). This new season of the show will be adapting the fifth part of the JoJo’s manga, whose print run in Weekly Shonen Jump ran from 1995 to 1999. Araki also added that the new season would begin airing this year in October. For those fans lucky enough to be attending Anime Expo this year in Los Angeles, the new season’s first episode will be watchable on July 7 at the convention.
The plot of Golden Wind takes place in the year 2001 and is set in the Italian city of Naples. Giorno Giovanna, this part’s main character, pursues his dream to rise through the ranks of the Neapolitan Mafia, and to get rid of the corruption he sees within it. To do so he must defeat the boss of the most powerful and feared gang, Passione, in order to become a “Gang-Star.” With the help of his men, Giorno tries to make his dream a reality.
